The two-day staged and scripted meeting of several opponents of the caretaker government in Vienna concluded with an ambiguous, vague and scripted statement from the meeting’s sponsors. For a long time, extensive campaigns had been ongoing on social media by several opposing factions, their sponsors and supporters regarding this meeting. The main goal of this meeting was to gather the groups and fronts formed abroad, encourage them to resolve their internal differences and reach an agreement.
But after four consecutive such meetings, even in the fifth session, they were unable to gather even those who were once part of a network. Moreover, if we look at the previous sessions of this series, even those past figures were not present, which in itself indicates new rifts, conflicts and severe disagreements. On the other hand, before this meeting, some members, supporters, and financiers of the opposing groups believed and were so optimistic that some kind of magic would happen in this meeting and everything would be resolved.
But this meeting showed that the existing conflicts, rifts, disagreements and mistrust among these opposing groups are much greater than what is commented on externally. Another important issue is that a vague, ambiguous and general statement was issued to them, each clause of which requires dozens of other clauses for clarification, which in itself indicates severe disagreements, imposed, forced and superficial issues.
So, this Vienna meeting and its statement are part of the series of the past four failed and inconclusive meetings, which may have serious consequences for the participants and other opposing groups. Considering the statements, ambiguities and points of conflict with other factions and groups, their conflicts will intensify, and it will also make it clear to their funders and donors that investing in these factions and individuals is pointless, unproductive and merely a waste of time and resources. Although they were tested once before, they were given another chance and it seems that this test will be their final one.
