Tomiko Itoka, the world’s oldest living person, has passed away at the age of 116 in Asiya, Japan.

According to reports from The New York Times, Itoka’s remarkable life spanned from May 23, 1908, until her peaceful passing in 2025.

Local media once got to learn the secret of her long life. In an open interview, Itoka said her long life was due to eating a lot of fresh fruits, especially bananas, and drinking Calpis, a well-known Japanese dairy drink.

Holding the Guinness World Record for the oldest living person, her legacy was solidified when she was officially recognized in September 2024.
