CNN reported that U.S. President Donald Trump said a civilian nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia will only be approved if Riyadh joins the Abraham Accords.

Trump made the remarks one day after the announcement confirming the agreement with Saudi Arabia. He said the deal would exclude uranium enrichment and would be limited to peaceful civilian purposes, adding that the United States supports civilian nuclear programs only when they do not involve uranium enrichment.

Axios reporter Barak Ravid also quoted Trump as saying that Saudi Arabia’s acceptance of the Abraham Accords is a prerequisite for final approval of the agreement.

Meanwhile, CNN reported that it remains unclear how Trump’s new condition could affect the agreement announced a day earlier. Neither the Saudi Embassy nor the White House has issued an official response.
