ABC News, citing the US State Department, reported that the United States plans to issue a limited number of special passports to mark the 250th anniversary of its independence. The commemorative passports are expected to feature an image of President Donald Trump, along with a gold-embossed signature on the inner front page.
According to the report, this would mark the first time in history that a sitting US president’s image appears on a passport.
The special passports will reportedly be available only through in-person applications at the passport office in Washington, D.C., and production will be strictly limited.
The move is being described as part of Trump’s broader effort to associate his name and image with government institutions, currency, and national symbols.
