Axios reported that U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to meet with leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York next Tuesday to discuss the war in Iran and U.S. plans for the postwar period.
Representatives from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman are expected to attend the meeting. According to Axios, the U.S. State Department has sent initial invitations for the meeting.
The meeting will focus primarily on U.S. plans for the period following the war with Iran. The Trump administration is working on a strategy for the Middle East after the war and is expected to finalize the plan after the U.S. midterm elections.
