The U.S. Department of War has claimed that Russia is engaged in developing and preparing nuclear weapons intended to destroy satellites in space.
The commander of the U.S. Air Force, Steven Whiting, stated that Russia plans to deploy these weapons in Earth’s orbit.
According to him, a single detonation of such a device could disable up to 80 percent of the approximately 10,000 active satellites in orbit.
The Russian government has not responded to this claim; however, it has previously emphasized its military strength.
