The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has stated that its programs in Afghanistan are focused on preventing drug addiction, providing treatment and care, and supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of people affected by drug dependence.
The agency reaffirmed that the United Nations stands alongside Afghanistan in addressing drug-related challenges and emerging threats.
UNODC also said it supports sustainable livelihoods for communities and households that have faced economic hardship after abandoning poppy cultivation.
The agency emphasized the importance of continuing counternarcotics efforts while expanding alternative livelihood programs for farmers.
