Syria’s Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed al‑Saleh, reported that a wildfire that broke out in the forests of Latakia province four days ago has escalated into a large‑scale disaster.”
He noted that nearly 10,000 hectares of forested area have been scorched so far, and operations are underway to bring the fire under control.
According to al-Saleh, nearly 80 government authorities are actively involved in firefighting efforts.
Reports also confirm that Turkey and Jordan have provided support by dispatching essential equipment, rescue teams, and helicopters to assist in containing the fire.
