On the 106th anniversary of Afghanistan’s independence from British colonial rule, the Afghan government issued a statement praising the bravery, commitment, and sacrifices of the mujahideen of that era. It called on the new generation, particularly young people, to learn from history and stay resolute against any foreign occupation.

The statement emphasized the Afghan people’s pride in having resisted and overcome three major foreign powers over the past century, first defeating British colonial forces, and later standing against both the Soviet Union and American occupation, securing independence and victory against each.

It’s worth noting that, 106 years ago, Afghan mujahideen secured independence after a determined struggle against British colonial rule.
