The Ministry of Higher Education says that, on the sidelines of the 17th International Forum “Russia and the Islamic World,” the first meeting of the Joint Economic and Trade Commission between Afghanistan and Russia was held under the leadership of the Minister of Higher Education, Sheikh Nida Mohammad Nadeem.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, the Minister of Industry and Commerce of Afghanistan, and several other senior Afghan officials.

The Minister of Higher Education stated that Afghanistan, as an important member of the Islamic world, seeks balanced and positive engagement with the international community, and that the Afghan government pursues its foreign policy based on Islamic values and mutual respect.

He added that, due to its strategic geographical location, Afghanistan can play an important role as a point of economic connectivity between Central and South Asia.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia described the meeting between the two countries as significant and said it would help create opportunities for expanding cooperation in the fields of trade, transit, and investment.
