The Ministry of Education says new buildings have been constructed for more than 1,300 schools and madrasas across Afghanistan over the past five years, while more than 4,000 other school and madrasa buildings have been renovated.
Ministry spokesman Zabihullah Himmat said foundation stones were laid for 42 school and madrasa buildings during the first six months of 1405.
The ministry said construction of buildings for the remaining schools is also progressing gradually to provide students who are still studying in temporary facilities with suitable learning environments.
