U.S. President Joe Biden announced the extension of the executive order freezing Afghanistan’s assets beyond February 11, 2025.

The executive order, signed on February 11, 2022, froze Afghanistan’s central bank assets and kept them out of Central Bank’s reach.

It’s important to note that the freezing of Afghanistan’s assets by the United States was seen as a violation of international norms.

Despite repeated requests from Afghanistan, the Afghan assets still remain frozen.
