Forces from the 3rd Brigade of 313 Central Corps have recovered the bodies of four passengers from a Corolla vehicle that plunged into the Kabul River along the Kabul–Jalalabad highway.
According to a statement from the 313 Central Corps, the incident took place last night in the Shpolai Baba area of the Mahipar pass, where the vehicle reportedly lost control, veered off the road, and fell into the river.
The bodies were retrieved from the river and transferred to the Surobi district health center by military ambulances, the statement added.
The corps further noted that the submerged vehicle has not yet been located due to the strong river current, and the exact number of passengers on board at the time of the incident remains unknown.
Search and rescue operations are continuing to locate the vehicle and any additional passengers.
