The Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mawlawi Ahmadullah Zahid, met with the Deputy Head of China’s General Administration of Customs.

According to the ministry’s statement, the two sides discussed expanding cooperation in trade, transit, and agriculture.

Mr. Zahid requested tariff reductions for Afghan exports, permission for Afghan trucks to access Chinese territory via Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, and authorization for Afghan airlines to operate flights to Urumqi and other Chinese cities.

In response, the Deputy Head of China’s General Administration of Customs assured that the proposals would be reviewed through diplomatic channels and that necessary cooperation would be provided wherever possible.

He also pledged continued cooperation with Afghanistan in the areas of exports, agriculture, and transit.
