Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of the Lajward Residential Complex in Balkh Province.
At the inauguration ceremony, Baradar said the Afghan government is placing strong emphasis on achieving economic self-sufficiency, attracting domestic and foreign investment, and advancing infrastructure development, calling the Lajward Complex a key example of these efforts.
According to a statement from the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office for Economic Affairs, he further stated that the Afghan government considers it its responsibility to facilitate investment and provide the necessary support for both domestic and foreign investors in the construction sector.
Available information shows that the private sector will invest nearly $150 million in the Lajward Residential Complex, where around 1,448 modern and standard apartments will be constructed. The project is also expected to generate employment opportunities for nearly 7,000 citizens.
The complex will span around 21 jeribs of land and will feature commercial and healthcare facilities, along with schools, green spaces, a mosque, recreational areas, sports facilities, and other essential services.
