Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, head of the Disaster Management Authority, has met with Sofia Calthorpe, head of UN Women’s Geneva office, and her accompanying delegation to discuss ways to strengthen humanitarian assistance and expand search and rescue teams.
During the meeting, Turabi stressed the importance of coordination among humanitarian organizations and called on “UN Women” to support the development of volunteer networks and search and rescue teams.
Calthorpe pledged support for establishing and expanding search and rescue teams. She said her office had allocated funding for the initiative and was working to secure additional financial resources.
Both sides stressed the need for closer coordination and cooperation between their organizations to improve the delivery of humanitarian services.
