In a report, The Guardian states that U.S. President Donald Trump, just 48 hours after the killing of his close friend, political and media figure, and strong supporter of Israel, Charlie Kirk, told Fox & Friends that he hopes Kirk’s killer will be executed as soon as possible.

Trump added that Kirk did not deserve such a death and said the incident was deeply shocking to him.

He stated, “I am deeply saddened by Kirk’s death and hope the shooter receives the death penalty.”

Trump’s call for capital punishment comes despite the fact that U.S.-backed institutions supposedly committed to protecting human rights; along with the U.S. government itself, regularly preach about safeguarding human rights globally.

From the United Nations to most Western governments, there have been repeated statements over the past four years expressing concern and condemnation over the implementation of Islamic Hudood punishments in Afghanistan, particularly Qisas (retribution). This is while dozens of people are executed daily and subjected to various forms of torture in those very countries.
