The British newspaper The Telegraph has reported that David McCloskey, a former analyst for the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), believes the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq did not contribute to America’s security.

McCloskey, who left the CIA in 2014 and is now a bestselling author, stated that while the U.S. excels at destabilizing regions, it struggles with rebuilding them.

Speaking to The Telegraph, he remarked: “I certainly don’t think we’re safer when it comes to the prosecution and political consequences of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
