The Economic Deputy Office of the Prime Minister has announced in a statement that during a meeting of the Economic Commission led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, it was decided that any company or investor willing to invest in cold storage construction will be granted a five-year tax exemption.
The statement notes that the lack of cold storage facilities in the country, along with seasonal tariff hikes on agricultural products by neighboring countries, has caused significant financial losses to farmers and traders. The tax exemption is aimed at preventing such losses.
In addition, the Economic Commission approved a proposal to construct a cold storage facility and factory on land owned by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock in the center of Ghazni province.
Economic analysts consider the five-year tax exemption for cold storage investors a significant step, stating that domestic preservation of agricultural products can contribute to the country’s economic stability.
