Senior Hamas leader Mohammad Nazaal told Al Jazeera Television that the movement is consulting with other Palestinian factions and mediating countries over Donald Trump’s new proposal.

Nazaal stated that the plan is being thoroughly reviewed and that Hamas will issue an official response soon.

The proposal calls for a ceasefire, prisoner exchanges, the disarmament of Hamas, and the establishment of a new administrative authority for Gaza, a plan backed by the Zionist regime of Israel. Hamas, however, stressed that any decision will be guided by public interest and political realities.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Hindi, deputy leader of the Islamic Jihad movement in Gaza, criticized the proposal, warning that it could enable further atrocities by the Zionist regime and prolong violence against Palestinians. He emphasized that any acceptance must be contingent on firm guarantees for the withdrawal of Zionist forces.
