The Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines says more than 1,500 factories are currently operating in the province’s industrial park.
The chamber’s head, Mohammad Naser Amin, said these factories provide employment for around 160,000 people, while analysts say Afghanistan could emerge as one of the region’s leading industrial countries within the next decade.
