Authorities have blocked the import of a 28-ton shipment of substandard carpets through Aqina Port and returned the shipment to the exporting country, the Afghanistan Standards and Quality Authority said in a statement.

The authority said the shipment was found to be non-compliant with Afghanistan’s standards and requirements following technical inspections and necessary tests conducted by its professional staff.

The authority added that quality control of imported goods is ongoing at all ports, with measures being taken to prevent the entry of substandard products that could pose risks to public health, safety and consumer interests.
