The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development has announced that the contract for the second phase of the Wakhan Road project in Badakhshan will be signed today.
According to the ministry, this road, which connects Badakhshan to China’s Yarkand region, was initially constructed last year under the interim government. The project began in the Small Pamir area, starting from Bazai Gumbad, with a planned length of 50 kilometers.
Previously, The Washington Post reported that the interim government plans to transform the Wakhan Corridor into an international trade hub, establishing a direct link between Afghanistan and China.
