The Afghanistan Standards and Quality Authority has stopped three consignments of construction materials weighing more than 117 tons from entering Afghanistan through Islam Qala Port after they failed to meet the country’s required standards.
The consignments contained 42.8 tons of cement and 74.85 tons of reinforcing steel bars. Following quality inspections by the authority’s technical staff, the materials were found to be non-compliant with the required standards and were returned to the exporting country.
The authority said it will continue strict inspections and controls to prevent the import of substandard and non-compliant goods.
