Reuters reported that the United States and China are expanding their military capabilities in space and developing technologies to track, disable and potentially capture or destroy satellites.
In June, a secretive Chinese unmanned spaceplane released a small satellite hundreds of miles above Earth, according to the report.
U.S. space-tracking company LeoLabs said the satellite then maneuvered around another Chinese satellite before moving back toward the spaceplane from which it had been deployed.
Reuters said the test highlights the growing military competition between Washington and Beijing in space, as both countries develop increasingly advanced capabilities to monitor, track and potentially interfere with other spacecraft in orbit.
