International media reported that nearly one million people have been ordered to evacuate their homes in parts of Japan after Tropical Storms “Mekkhala” and “Higos” disrupted transportation across the country.
The reports said more than 200 flights have been canceled, dozens of train services suspended, and several major highways closed as the storms continue to affect the country.
Meanwhile, the Japan Meteorological authority has warned of a heightened risk of heavy rainfall, flooding, and landslides.
