Pakistan’s Dawn newspaper reported that the country’s mango growers are facing heavy financial losses due to declining exports and the impact of climate change.
According to the report, Afghanistan has not imported any Pakistani mangoes this year because of the prolonged closure of border crossings between the two countries.
The report added that the Iranian conflict has disrupted maritime shipping routes and driven up freight costs, further reducing Pakistan’s mango exports.
It also noted that climate change has reduced mango production by an estimated 20 to 30 percent, leaving Pakistan’s horticulture sector under increasing pressure.
