In a meeting with Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Roza Otunbayeva, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Head of UNAMA, provided an update on her recent address to the Security Council. She also discussed the renewal of UNAMA’s mandate and shared details of her meetings in New York and Vienna.

Otunbayeva further addressed the UN’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking, strengthen the private sector, and resolve banking sector challenges.

Hafiz Zia Ahmad, the Director of Public Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated in a press release that Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi clarified the interim government’s position on various issues. He also assured that the interim government is committed to collaborating with the UN on all initiatives, provided its perspectives are taken into account.
