Anna Evstigneeva, Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, told a United Nations Security Council meeting on Afghanistan that the international community has no alternative but to engage in dialogue with the Afghan government.
She added that her country supports the resolution extending the mandate of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
Anna Evstigneeva emphasized that Afghanistan’s challenges cannot be resolved without a realistic approach and dialogue with the Islamic Emirate.
It is worth noting that Moscow has, in recent years, supported practical engagement and expanded relations with Kabul, stressing that talks with the current Afghan government are essential for regional security.
