Russia’s National Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said Western countries are seeking to drive a wedge into the strategic partnership between Russia and China but will not succeed.
He made the remarks following talks and a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, adding that Western efforts to weaken ties between Moscow and Beijing will prove futile.
In a statement released by the press office of Russia’s Security Council, Shoigu said: “Western countries dream of creating divisions within the strategic partnership between our countries. I once again stress that Moscow and Beijing will not remain indifferent.”
He also said that Russia and China will continue to strengthen their cooperation within the frameworks of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS.
