CNN reports that South Korean investigators have arrested the impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol.

Yoon faced public uprising on December 3rd after declaring military rule. This is the first time in South Korean history that a president has been arrested before finishing his presidential term.

On Wednesday, Yoon announced that he surrendered to the investigation team to prevent violence, just before a massive police force of 1,000 officers arrived at his residence.

In recent weeks, investigators tried to arrest President Yoon but were stopped by the presidential guard.
