Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported that two nephews of Khalil al-Hayya, a senior Hamas official and member of the movement’s political bureau, were martyred in Israeli artillery strikes on the Shuja’iyya neighborhood in eastern Gaza.
According to the report, Ayman Abdussalam al-Hayya and his brother Mua’dh were targeted while leaving their tents to collect firewood and check on their ancestral home.
The report adds that the al-Hayya family has previously suffered heavy losses. Another brother, Ashraf Abdussalam al-Hayya, was martyred in 2003, and a fourth brother has been seriously wounded twice.
The report states that during the ongoing war in Gaza and earlier, 33 members of Khalil al-Hayya’s family have been martyred.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of the current conflict in Gaza, more than 200,000 Palestinians — including senior Hamas leaders and their family members — have been martyred.
