Members of the Resistance Front, the Resistance Council and some other groups are once again gathering in Vienna, Austria, to participate in the fifth Vienna meeting. This meeting, held on the 18th and 19th of February in Vienna, Austria, will take place among familiar faces and will focus on the situation in Afghanistan. During this meeting, they will specifically discuss the topic of “Afghanistan after the Taliban.”

Analysts consider the fifth round of the Vienna meeting to be a failure as well, because in this promotional meeting, the same repeated, tested, sold-out and discredited figures of Afghanistan are gathered, who have become detested by the people and are no longer accepted as rulers of Afghanistan in any way. However, these figures still do not refrain from their personal interests and try in every possible way to secure their gains.

The previous Vienna meetings have also ended in failure; the fourth Vienna meeting took place among political figures on June 30 and July 1. At that time, they considered the third Doha meeting to be a one-sided meeting at the behest of the Taliban representatives. The Vienna meeting was originally organized to challenge the third Doha meeting, as there was less than a week left until the Doha meeting. Now that the fourth Doha meeting is also being held in the future, they want to demonstrate their influence and multitude and through this propaganda meeting, show themselves as a party to the Afghan issue in a few stylish images and not be excluded from the fourth Doha meeting.

In the upcoming Vienna meeting, one hundred politicians, civil activists and opponents of the caretaker government will participate. The opponents of the caretaker government based abroad have been continuously trying for about four years to reach an internal consensus, as well as to discuss plans for the restoration of Afghanistan and the establishment and presentation of a new form of governance in the country. However, each meeting ends without results or turns into internal conflicts instead of reaching a consensus.

In the Vienna meeting, the politicians gathered under the pretext of presenting a solution to end the crisis in Afghanistan have repeatedly considered the Taliban as the cause of the crisis. Meanwhile, during the two decades of the Vienna meeting participants’ rule in the presence of occupiers in Afghanistan, despite the countless resources available, they did not manage to pull Afghanistan out of its crisis. In fact, these officials were the very agents of the crisis’s persistence. Now that a caretaker government has taken power and the crisis has been inherited, the opponents blame it on the caretaker government, which is an extremely illogical and unfounded accusation.

In addition to other propaganda statements at the Vienna meetings, the Taliban are also accused of not embracing peace and choosing war, while various factions have declared armed struggle against the Taliban since August 2021, not taking the opportunity for peace and opting for war, but then blaming the Taliban for their choice.

Based on the readings, declarations and statements, the Vienna meetings are merely futile propaganda efforts against the caretaker government; they will neither lift the participating groups from isolation nor garner support, as every meeting, assembly, group and effort of theirs has ended in discord and faced division.
