The recent meeting in London, which was ostensibly held under the cover of a women’s intelligence organization and led by Fauzia Koofi, is in fact the second phase of a series orchestrated by Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The first phase of this series was held in Islamabad, where the participants were merely compensated with 13,000 Pakistani rupees and a set of clothes.

This time, the payment of all expenses for the second meeting by Pakistan and the organization of the agenda proves that the current opponents of the Afghan government have become mercenaries safeguarding Rawalpindi’s interests instead of protecting Afghanistan’s interests for very little gain. The fact that the meeting was moved from Islamabad to London is not only due to high security risks, but also aims to give a “civil” color to Pakistan’s interference and hide the true identity of its puppets.

The composition of around 40 participants in this meeting, which includes former warlords and contractors from the fallen republic, shows that Pakistan is once again busy gathering its old and tested pawns. The rejection of the invitation to this meeting by some informed individuals revealed the fact that there is only intelligence aims behind this gathering. Pakistan has never been and will never be a friend of Afghanistan; they only use these Afghan-like figures as a tool to stoke new ethnic conflicts in Afghanistan.

The surprising thing is that this group shouts slogans of “saving Afghanistan,” but receives funding and guidance from the very source that is primarily accused of the wars, destruction of foundations, and killing of Afghans over the past 45 years. The fact that Pakistan is now using these corrupt figures to exert pressure on Afghanistan clearly shows that these opponents are neither concerned about the people’s suffering nor do they have any national agenda; rather, they are merely implementers of the ISI’s sinister plans in exchange for money and resources. They are defenders and activists of those projects whose aim is to sabotage Afghanistan’s water dams, mines, and major transit routes and to undermine the country’s independence.

The people of Afghanistan must be vigilant that these figures are sowing the seeds of division and new crises in the name of “political solutions” in London. Those media outlets and individuals who operate abroad with financial support from Pakistan are trying to distort public perception and once again repeat the failed scenario of civil war. History has proven over the past few decades that anyone who sought refuge in the arms of foreign intelligence agencies ultimately made a personal deal at the cost of selling their country and nation.

The recent London meeting is another major test for Afghans to distinguish between their true friends and enemies. No matter how colorful slogans the participants of this meeting may give, the word “Islamabad” is written on their foreheads, their interests are tied to Pakistan, and they have completely lost their credibility in front of the Afghan nation. Afghanistan needs brave and national figures who will reject the calls of Pakistan’s intelligence traps and will not allow the sacred name and destiny of the Afghans to be sacrificed for the sinister and intelligence goals of foreign countries.
