U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that he will hold a constructive meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, this coming Friday in the state of Alaska.

Trump added that during this meeting, he will encourage his Russian counterpart to bring an end to the war in Ukraine.

According to a report by Reuters, Trump told reporters: “I will speak with Putin and tell him that this war must end.”

He also mentioned that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may participate in upcoming meetings. However, Trump expressed concern that Zelensky might refuse to agree to a peace deal if it requires giving up the territories Ukraine has lost.

It is worth noting that Trump is openly trying to end the bloody war between Russia and Ukraine — which has lasted for over two years — through dialogue and negotiations.
