The United States on Wednesday evening vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

According to international media reports, 14 members of the UN Security Council voted in favor of the draft resolution, while the United States vetoed it.

Before the vote, the U.S. Permanent Representative to the UN told Council members that the resolution would undermine U.S. efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.

It is worth noting that the U.S. has previously vetoed several other Security Council resolutions aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza.
