Venezuelan authorities have announced that the death toll from two consecutive earthquakes that struck the country last week has risen to 1,719, while 5,034 people have been injured.
Officials said 611 aftershocks have been recorded since the earthquakes, including a magnitude 4.2 tremor that struck this morning.
Search and rescue operations are continuing as authorities assess the extent of the damage in the affected areas.
Government officials had previously said that more than 60,000 people remain missing following the earthquakes.
