The Ministry of Interior Affairs says that security forces in Dand Patan district of Paktia province have seized 20 pieces of various weapons along with a quantity of ammunition.
The ministry added that the confiscated items include eight Kalakov rifles, 12 pistols, eight magazines, 20 Kalashnikov springs, three M4 barrels, and 3,000 pistol rounds.
According to the source, the weapons and ammunition were being smuggled from Pakistan into Afghanistan and were intercepted by security forces during the smuggling operation.
The Ministry of Interior also stated that the smugglers fled the area during the operation, and security forces are making serious efforts to identify and apprehend them.
