Saifuddin Laton, spokesperson for the Panjshir provincial office, has announced plans for the construction of a $20 million hydropower dam in the Pariyan district of Panjshir province.
The project was confirmed during a meeting between Panjshir Governor Al-Hafiz Mohammad Hakim Agha and Dr. Abdul Bari Omar, Director of Afghanistan’s Breshna Sherkat (State-owned Electricity Company), during discussions on addressing the province’s electricity needs.
According to Laton, the project will be implemented by the international Turkish company 77, with technical surveys currently underway.
Once completed, the dam is expected to generate 10 megawatts of electricity, providing power to approximately 10,000 households across the province.
