Joseph Aoun, the Chief of the Lebanese Army, has been appointed as the President of Lebanon by the country’s parliament on Thursday, according to Lebanese media reports.

In his inaugural speech as president, Mr. Aoun promised to rebuild southern Lebanon and other destroyed areas of the country to prevent attacks by the Zionist regime.

It is noteworthy that Lebanon has been without a president for the past two years.
