Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, following his election, has met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his first foreign visit as president. The meeting took place today in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

Al-Sharaa was accompanied by a high-ranking delegation, including Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani, as well as several ministers and officials from the transitional government.

According to reports, the talks between President al-Sharaa and Crown Prince Mohammed focused on removing economic sanctions imposed on Syria, restoring and strengthening bilateral relations, as well as addressing other important issues.

This visit marks the beginning of al-Sharaa’s two-day trip to Saudi Arabia, following his election last week as the new president of Syria’s transitional government.

Notably, his appointment also coincided with the dissolution of former armed groups, security agencies, the People’s Council, and the Ba’ath Party, along with the decision to terminate Syria’s previous constitution.
