Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Jamshid Khodjayev, during discussions with Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Economic Deputy of Afghanistan’s Interim Government, expressed Tashkent’s readiness to expand trade relations with Kabul. Uzbekistan is prepared to invest in the establishment of factories for the production and processing of pine nuts and cotton, as well as packaging and logistics centers, and food processing plants in Afghanistan.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s deputy of economic affairs, Khodjayev further noted that Uzbek investors are willing to collaborate with the Afghan government in the exploration and extraction of oil and gas. Significant progress is expected in the near future in the exploration of natural gas at the Totimiyan field, with extraction operations soon to commence.

Additionally, Khodjayev revealed that Uzbek investors plan to invest in the construction of a cement factory in Samangan province.

The Economic Deputy of the Afghan Interim Government welcomed the Uzbek proposals and assured full cooperation from the interim government’s bodies in these areas.
