The defeated and fugitive figures of Afghanistan, after consecutive failures and the fruitlessness of their meetings and gatherings over the past three years, are now trying to instill hope in their supporters with illusory fantasies.

Recently, on the occasion of the anniversary of the killing of one of the commanders of the Resistance Front named Khair Mohammad Khairkhwah, a meeting was held in London In this meeting, some defeated figures, including Yunus Qanuni, spoke online and promised the participants that “2025 will be a year of great transformations” and that significant changes are on the way.

Yunus Qanuni makes these statements while the meetings and gatherings of the opposition to the caretaker government have always reached a deadlock and brought despair among their supporters due to deep divisions among them since the fall of the republican regime.

Since the fall of the republican regime and the rise of the caretaker government, fleeing figures have formed multiple groups and held numerous meetings to attract financial support and gain favors from the intelligence agencies of various countries. However, disagreements over the division of favors have intensified conflicts and further distanced these figures from each other.

Audio recordings that previously leaked from Massoud Andarabi, the interior minister of the fallen government, show that he referred to Ahmad Massoud as a “small child” and Bismillah Khan, the then-defense minister, as a “fool.” Additionally, interviews with Atta Mohammad Noor, the leader of the Jamiat-e Islami party, who called Ahmad Massoud an “inexperienced child,” reveal the depth of the divisions among the opponents of the caretaker government.

In addition, other audio recordings released by Abdul Sattar Hossaini and Isa Mohammadi also show that the differences among the leaders of the so-called “Freedom” and “Resistance” fronts are very extensive and unsolvable.

Therefore, with such deep divisions among the exiled figures, giving hope for a change that would be in their favor is nothing but a delusion. These statements will never find external validity and will not come to fruition.

In such circumstances, expecting change is not only wishful thinking but also shows that Yunus Qanuni and his ilk are trying to hide the failures and inefficiencies of their meetings with such false promises and to reassure their supporters with unrealistic predictions.
