The Kandahar Police Command confirmed this morning that old ammunition exploded in a container belonging to the province’s anti-narcotics unit.

According to the report, the ammunition had been confiscated by security forces from various locations.

Several security guards were injured in the blast, and windows of nearby rooms were shattered.

The police further stated that security forces and firefighting personnel arrived at the scene promptly, successfully preventing additional explosions of hazardous materials.
