Financial Times: NATO on the Verge of Historical Collapse Due to Europe’s Blind Trust in the United States

The British newspaper Financial Times has reported on the tensions that have emerged between the United States and the European Union following Donald Trump’s rise to power. The report highlights that Europe’s blind trust in the U.S., combined with a series of recent actions by Trump, has led to a significant distrust of mutual confidence between the two sides, raising concerns over the potential collapse of NATO.

The source notes that, amid this growing distrust, the European Union’s Executive has issued a new directive, calling on its senior officials staying in the United States to take serious and precautionary measures against American cyber-espionage.

In recent months, actions taken by President Trump’s administration, including threats to possess Greenland, the imposition of tariffs on European imports, and the marginalization of the European Union in efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict, have disrupted diplomatic norms that had been established over several decades, causing considerable unease and mistrust among European allies.

According to the report, the deteriorating relations between Europe and the United States, coupled with Trump’s threats concerning the disintegration of NATO, have intensified concerns regarding the potential disintegration and falling of the NATO Alliance.
