Among the opposition groups to the caretaker government in Afghanistan, the one that claims to be the most national, non-ethnic, justice-oriented, and anti-tyranny movement is the “Resistance Front.” However, when their claims are viewed through the lens of action, the reality appears different. Their slogans speak of unity and justice, but their actions are based on ethnic, organizational, and geographical foundations, which strengthen division instead of unity.
This front, whose decision-making power is in the hands of certain individuals, is known by the names of the large and small circles. The small circle consists of family members of the front’s leader, “Ahmad Massoud,” who make decisions on financial and other important matters. The large circle, on the other hand, is referred to as the Panjshirans close to Ahmad Shah Massoud, who make decisions on military and ordinary issues. The names of others are only symbolically mentioned in the front, which proves the front’s claims of being national and justice-oriented to be false and deceptive.
Even more importantly, they introduce themselves as an anti-authoritarian movement, while the very figures positioned in this front are the main symbols of tyranny and terror. Those who, in exchange for killing their own people, received dollar salaries and privileges for years, seized countless state and private properties, and formed mafia-like circles for numerous betrayals and corruption, whose claim of opposition to tyranny is clearly in conflict with these actions.
Another important point that puts their approach and the concept of “national” under scrutiny is their pleas and appeals to foreign invading forces. Their leaders request political, financial, and military assistance from the United States, the European Union, and other international powers, exemplified by the recent statements of the political leader of this front, “Abdullah Khanjani,” made during an interview with a media outlet. The foundation of national issues is that the people should have control over their own destinies, not rely on external changes. Such dependence clearly contradicts the values of national independence.
In the end, it must be said that the realities under the slogans of the Resistance Front are not satisfactory to the people. People know that there is no one in the entire base of this front who truly wants the welfare of the people and the country. Their slogans are deceptive, and their actions are for their own personal gains, grudges, and monopolies.
