Afghan-American former U.S. diplomat Zalmay Khalilzad, in a message marking the 106th anniversary of Afghanistan’s independence from British Colonialism, stated that after decades, security in Afghanistan has improved and work is underway on major infrastructure projects.

He said: “After decades of war, there is now increased security, progress in the combat against narcotics, and work continues on important foundational projects.”

He added that former leaders and officials (referring to the former republic officials and party leaders) are attempting to repeat their past mistakes, saying: “They want to reclaim their former benefits and interests.”

It is worth noting that Khalilzad’s remarks come amid recent reports that Pakistan has invited a group of fallen republic figures for talks.

Notably, Among those listed are members of the disruptive fronts.
