Speaking at the inauguration of the Paranda hydropower dam in Panjshir, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar stressed that for the Afghan government construction and development are pursued as concrete actions rather than empty slogans.

According to Baradar, the government has taken effective and concrete steps toward energy self-sufficiency and is working to advance the country’s industrial and infrastructural development.

He stated that Afghanistan aims to achieve complete self-reliance in electricity production in the future, eliminating the need for imports from neighboring countries.

Baradar added that national projects such as the Paranda hydropower dam reflect the government’s commitment to progress, prosperity, and economic independence.

The Paranda dam, built at a cost of $8 million, was inaugurated today. With a capacity of 4 megawatts, it will provide reliable electricity to around 4,000 households.
