A special court under Pakistan’s military regime has sentenced the former chief of the country’s intelligence agency (ISI), General Faiz Hameed, to 14 years in prison.

According to the military’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), he was convicted for violating laws, misuse of authority, causing harm to the public, and involvement in political activities.

The Pakistani government, which has long operated under the influence of a dictatorial military faction, has in the past also imprisoned or eliminated numerous civilian and military officials for unclear reasons.
