Da Afghanistan Bank held a meeting chaired by its First Deputy Governor, Sediqullah Khalid, with the Association of Electronic Money and Payments Institutions and representatives from relevant institutions.

Sources reported that the meeting examined the implementation of leadership directives on revenue collection through banking systems and discussed matters related to enforcing the general strategy approved by the Office of the Prime Minister.

Mr. Khalid stressed that the strategy for developing electronic payments will modernize the financial system, strengthen transparency and accountability, and expand access to modern financial services, especially in remote areas. He underlined that the successful implementation of this strategy is a national responsibility, and all relevant institutions are expected to play their part.

Meanwhile, representatives of electronic money and payments institutions praised the strategy’s approval as a major milestone, clarified their challenges and recommendations, and received assurances of continued support from Da Afghanistan Bank.
